Proper independent trials using Anitone in watering systems have been conducted in commercial chicken operations and found to significantly reduce mortality and increase feed conversion.
Intensive poultry production uses scientifically balanced rations, but there are inevitable periods of stress in the bird’s life cycle.
Anitone is especially useful in establishing day old chickens when they have been subjected to the stress of transport and need settling in, which is usually a time of high mortality. It may be administered via watering systems or mixed with the ration for the first week or so.
When the young birds are feathering at approx. 21-28 days is another stressful period when it is useful to administer Anitoneagain via water or feed for approximately a week. The week before slaughter is the third time in the life cycle that Anitone is useful, as it helps the bird to retain water and succulent muscle tone.
If used strategically in this manner, Anitone is a very useful addition to the commercial meat chicken operation. However, it is just as applicable in layer operations, as well as backyard chicken production systems. Anitone may be fed weekly or bi weekly to adult chickens, and will help them lay for longer as well as increase feather quality and colour in show chickens.
Anitone is a useful supplement for the keeper of aviary and caged birds. It can be added to water for the sprouting of seeds, or added to watering systems in the cages, providing there is a good flow through to prevent stagnation. Most birds will take their favourite foods that have been either dipped or soaked in Anitone solution, and in this way their diets can be enriched with access to the array of minerals, vitamins and plant complexes it contains. It should be remembered that birds would drink out of wild waterholes where many of these compounds would be in solution and hence many are required to keep their gut healthy. In the confinement aviary system, gut infections are common.
DOSAGES & ADMINISTRATION
Anitone may be poured over feed rations, or mixed through them – either pour over the total ration (calculate per head dose or use at 5% ration), or can be poured or sprayed onto hay, or sprayed over grain via a grain applicator, (standard rate to spray into grain of 10 litres liquid per ton, using 5 litres Anitone mixed with 5 litres water).
Otherwise a 5% solution of Anitone can be used to soak seed or poured over kitchen scraps or food treats.
Anitone can also be added to water at a rate of 2mls per litre.
